According to World Entertainment News Network (WENN), director Adam Shankman has revealed he has added the SCORPIONS classic “Rock You Like a Hurricane” to the collection of 1980s rock classics that are part of the Broadway musical “Rock Of Ages”, which he is turning into a film.
In a Twitter post over the weekend, Shankman wrote, “Script gets better and better. New song mashups sound amazing. Added ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ to movie. It’s AWESOME!!!”
The Wrap recently reported that Tom Cruise is preparing for role as role in the upcoming film adaptation of “Rock Of Ages” — which showcases popular rock songs from the ’70s and ’80s — by training with Axl Rose’s vocal coach.
The actor will star as Stacee Jaxx, an aging musician whose glory days are long past. Among the tunes Cruise will perform are BON JOVI’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” and STYX’s “Renegade”.
“He’s been studying with — seriously — Axl Rose’s voice teacher like five hours a day,” director Adam Shankman tells The Wrap. “The prognosis is more than excellent.”
The movie is a love story told through the music of PAT BENATAR, BON JOVI, JOURNEY, POISON, TWISTED SISTER and other artists from the 1980s.
Scorpions bassist Pawel Maciwoda revealed during a brand new interview with the “Dzien Dobry TVN” show on Polish TV (see video below) that the band will enter the studio in the fall to lay down a collection of re-recorded versions of SCORPIONS classics. The CD is tentatively due early next year.

Herman Rarebell interview:
Classic Rock Revisited caught up with ex-Scorpions drummer Herman Rarebell to discuss his recent role in an upcoming solo album by rocker Michael Schenker. Herman let us know that the new album is great and it is being recorded with Pete Way of UFO on bass, hopefully. It seems Way is still Waysted most of the time and with Rarebell and Schenker being drug free his antics are weighing heavy on their nerves.
Not all the news is bad, however, as Rarebell is still rocking and waving the hard rock flag into his sixties. He has overcome the odds and rocked us like a hurricane for decades. He still has a fever for rock n’ roll and the only cure he can find is to keep on jamming.
We also take a look back in time to the days before Herman joined the Scorpions and learn how writing lyrics came to fall on his shoulders. Lastly, we discuss some career highlights including what it was like to play during Roger Water’s live DVD performed in Berlin where the famous wall once stood.
