SCORPIONS will return to North America in the Summer of 2011

Although German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS just wrapped a triumphant 38-show tour of North America on August 21 in Chicago at the Rosemont Theatre, they are now booking more U.S. dates for next summer since their overseas tour commitments will prevent them from playing more U.S. concerts this year. The group’s 2011 trek will see the band hit cities they did not get a chance to perform in on this most recent run.

SCORPIONS is now on a brief break and will resume its “Get Your Sting And Blackout World Tour 2010” tour on September 4 in Mexico before heading back to Europe, with dates confirmed through November 27 in Germany.

The farewell tour by the iconic band — Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Rudolf Schenker (guitar), James Kottak (drums) and Pawel Maciwoda (bass) — is in support of their latest album, “Sting In The Tail” (Universal Music Enterprises). It entered the U.S. chart at No. 23, marking the band’s highest chart debut in over 20 years.

The SCORPIONS’ tour — in celebration of 40-plus years in music— has been a massive success in a soft touring economy, with the group filling many of the arenas they performed at in the United States and Canada.

In a recent interview with Billboard’s Ray Waddell, Meine said, “What can I say? It’s a celebration… We feel we owe it to our fans and ourselves to keep this energy level. What we pull off every night on this tour, we want to keep it that way to the very last show. We don’t want to see ourselves rocking like a hurricane when it’s not a hurricane anymore.”

Scorpions shows in Oregon,Washington,Calgary and Edmonton

The Roseburg Oregon show set the all time attendance record for the Douglas County Fair at 12,500. The following night in Ridgefield Washington the Scorpions sold out the Clark County Amphitheater with over 18,000 people showing up for this farewell tour. The Scorpions then headed North of the border with two sold out shows in Calgary and Edmonton.

Scorpions new single going for Radio Adds

German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS have chosen the title track of their new album, “Sting In The Tail”, to be the CD’s next single. The song, which goes for radio adds on June 21, is all about attitude. Lead singer Klaus Meine wails “I’m driving out of town, just follow my heart/I think I’m gonna be a rock ‘n’ roll star/The girls would go mad, I’d give ’em all I can give/If I had a cheap guitar and one dirty riff.”

SCORPIONS are currently out on their “Get Your Sting And Blackout” farewell world tour and will hit the states Friday, June 18 to kick off the North American leg in Holmdel, New Jersey. The German rockers will be bring their heavy, full-on, electrically charged energy to major cities across the U.S., including Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Denver and many more as they celebrate the success of their latest and final album. Special guests on the tour will include VINCE NEIL, CINDERELLA, GREAT WHITE, DOKKEN, RATT and TESLA supporting along the way.

Rudolf and his Twin Brother

Paul sent us this article which appeared in the June 2, 2010 edition of Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. He summarized it this way:

Scorpions tribute band IN TRANCE guitarist Paul Gagné was featured in Hannover’s leading newspaper along with a review of the Scorpions concert at the TUI Arena in Hannover which took place June 1st. Rudolf Schenker suggested the journalist do an article about his “twin brother born from another mother” from Québec City, Canada. Among the subjects discussed are Paul’s relation with Hannover, Scorpions, and his band IN TRANCE.
