Scorpions new single going for Radio Adds

German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS have chosen the title track of their new album, “Sting In The Tail”, to be the CD’s next single. The song, which goes for radio adds on June 21, is all about attitude. Lead singer Klaus Meine wails “I’m driving out of town, just follow my heart/I think I’m gonna be a rock ‘n’ roll star/The girls would go mad, I’d give ’em all I can give/If I had a cheap guitar and one dirty riff.”

SCORPIONS are currently out on their “Get Your Sting And Blackout” farewell world tour and will hit the states Friday, June 18 to kick off the North American leg in Holmdel, New Jersey. The German rockers will be bring their heavy, full-on, electrically charged energy to major cities across the U.S., including Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Denver and many more as they celebrate the success of their latest and final album. Special guests on the tour will include VINCE NEIL, CINDERELLA, GREAT WHITE, DOKKEN, RATT and TESLA supporting along the way.

New Three Part audio Interview with Matthias Jabs

Matthias and the guys in the band are certainly very busy with their farewell tour, and we certainly felt honored that Matthias took the time out of his busy schedule to talk to us about the tour, the new album, and some of his “post” retirement plans.

If you’ve ever seen or heard an interview with Matthias, you already know he’s one of the nicest guys in rock and roll, and one of the truly great all time lead guitar players.  Ladies and Gentlemen, Matthias Jabs:

Rudolf and his Twin Brother

Paul sent us this article which appeared in the June 2, 2010 edition of Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. He summarized it this way:

Scorpions tribute band IN TRANCE guitarist Paul Gagné was featured in Hannover’s leading newspaper along with a review of the Scorpions concert at the TUI Arena in Hannover which took place June 1st. Rudolf Schenker suggested the journalist do an article about his “twin brother born from another mother” from Québec City, Canada. Among the subjects discussed are Paul’s relation with Hannover, Scorpions, and his band IN TRANCE.

Article from the Homecoming Hannover show for the Scorpions

Scorpions homecoming show in Hannover, Germany June 1, 2010
12,000 Fans celebrate the greatest ambassadors our city, to rock with the title song from their eponymous album. The last home game of the Scorps. After more than 40 years, the giants of rock farewell tour are: whole two and a half years around the world. More than 200 concerts in nearly 40 countries, millions of viewers. Motto: “Get Your Sting And Blackout”.

Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs on the gas as if they had just started. Precise as a Swiss watch sit riffs. Light as a feather flies Schenker with his guitar on stage. It sits in my Klaus incomparable voice. Scorpions sound. Yeah. Rock instead of talking.

Brief Introduction: “This is the famous home game! Nice to be back firing. “Then the hits. “Bad Boys Running Wild”.

Great! “Send Me an Angel” and “Holiday” as an acoustic set. Klaus Meine very close to the audience, holding the mike in the fan crowd! Break – “Raised on Rock” and “The Good Die Young”. Time and again, film clips on the screens, fireworks, flames, Mega-Light Show. Klaus Meine throwing drumsticks into the fan masses. The hall seething.

The absolute hammer is the flying Drumriser. James Kottak takes off with his drum solos. Suddenly jumps out the band – “Blackout”. Rudolf Schenker rocks with his head bandaged, as on the record cover.

“Big City Nights” to the furious finale. Encore! “Still Loving You,” “Wind of Change” – pure goose bumps!

Finally, the absolute fireworks Cracker: “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, the hall trembles under the anthem of the Scorpions. The band bows. Cheering frenzy, the sting is deep in Hannover.
